Teaching Modalities

Direct patient care, teaching rounds, conferences (board preparatory lecture series, formal lectures, case presentations, and topics in clinical medicine, pathology, radiology, and medical ethics), monthly journal lodge, research, as well as weekly lath review sessions, simulation labs, point-of-care ultrasonography, and procedure grooming. Didactics are a synchronous alloy of in-person and virtual educational activity.

Convalescent patient care is provided at IMCA, the Internal Medicine Centre of Akron, where resident continuity clinics are held. In add-on to clinic, residents spend fourth dimension alongside internists and subspecialists as part of their convalescent training.

All of our pedagogy faculty are Lath-certified in their specialty.

Training facilities include the Eye, & Vascular Center, the first accredited Breast Pain Center in Summit County (PCI, Level three certified in diagnostic testing, treatment and inquiry); The McDowell Cancer Center (the largest inpatient unit in the area) providing patients with access to the newest therapies, diagnostics, and surgical techniques to minimize side effects and better outcomes; The Simulation Centre providing our residents and students with a country-of- the-art venue for simulation in a broad spectrum of applications. Hands-on simulation helps teams and individuals develop preparedness and insight that is all-time learned and practiced in realistic conditions. This translates into improved real-earth communication, collaboration, teamwork, and crisis direction. Boosted grooming opportunities include our Hemodialysis Unit of measurement, Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber, Wound Center, Neuroscience Institute, Endoscopy Lab, Pulmonary Part Lab, Respiratory Therapy and Sleep Lab as well as MRI, CT, Pet Scanning and Ultrasonography.

The first Primary Stroke Centre in the expanse designated by the Joint Commission with active reperfusion and stroke team protocols allows Akron Full general to serve as a regional referral center for many area hospitals.

Research participation is required during the iii-year program.

Each yr, our residents present their scholarly work at local, state and/or national meetings and have their piece of work published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Involvement in our research program has been instrumental in the successful Fellowship placement of our residents.

Our formal Advisor Plan transitions medical students to residency. Residents meet with cadre kinesthesia two times per year to discuss career-building, well-being, and mentorship opportunities.
